Vetyverio Eau de Toilette in the newly redesigned bottle
Bad case of wanderlust? Here’s the easiest escape ever: diptyque. This new boutique—its first in New England, located at 47 Main Street in Westport—blends the appeal of a coastal home with the spirit of the original boutique at 34 Boulevard Saint- Germain in Paris. Feel oh so chic perusing the range of fragrances for body and home. The business is rooted in French flair, as it was founded by Christiane Gautrot, an interior designer; Desmond Knox-Leet, a painter; and Yves Coueslant, a theater director and set designer. Christiane and Desmond designed fabrics and wallpaper for Liberty and Sanderson. Yves joined in 1961 and they opened a type of stylish bazaar inspired by travels that infuses the line of products today.
Love the labels? Those signature ovals are reminiscent of the shape of an eighteenth-century medallion, a pattern found on the Prétorien fabric designed by Desmond Knox-Leet in 1963. The pattern suggests the shields of ancient Rome, which seems to appeal to the warrior shoppers of today.
