Stamford-based disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization AmeriCares has a long history of helping people in need. Since its founding in 1982, the organization has raised billions of dollars to provide immediate medical needs and humanitarian assistance programs for individuals worldwide.
The twenty-fifth annual AmeriCares Airlift Benefit gala, titled “A Journey of Hope,” took place at the Panorama Hangar at Westchester County Airport. The sold-out event attracted 750 supporters and raised more than $1.2 million to further the mission of AmeriCares. The Airlift Benefit is certainly an aptly titled event.
The evening culminated in a chartered flight, when seventy-five guests departed for Guatemala. In store for the guests was a whirlwind twenty-four-hour journey, with tours of AmeriCares-supported hospitals, clinics, and homes for children and the elderly. The evening and the tour of Guatemala gave the guests a glimpse of Americares’ work in over ninety countries.
