Swing For Halfway
The First Annual Golf Benefit and Golf Ball Gala featured an eighteen-hole golf scramble tournament, followed by a gala cocktail party and auction. Held at Longshore, the event mixed friendly competition with fine weather and a touch of luxury, courtesy of sponsors Range Rover of Milford and Moet & Chandon. Event organizer Skip Lane found support from the Longshore Men’s Golf Association, the Friends of Westport Parks and Recreation nonprofit group and the 9th 1/2 Holer group, which is raising funds to build a new Halfway House at Longshore. To date, the group has raised nearly $140,000. A portion of the funds are in memory of Cliff Ross, a member of the Golf Advisory Committee; he supported the need for the house and helped with its planning. It will offer snacks, sandwiches and beverages, as well as modern restroom facilities and shelter from bad weather.
