A recent cocktail reception for the Silver Hill Hospital Gala was held at the home of Silver Hill supporter Shafi Roepers. Emmy-nominated Carrie Fisher—author, actress and former patient of Silver Hill—was recognized at the subsequent gala for her advocacy work on behalf of mental illness. Many local residents joined honorary cochairs Michael Cominotto and Dennis Basso, who inspired the first gala and attended both events. Last year’s gala raised $1.3 million for scholarships for adolescents and young adults who need financial aid to fund residential care at the hospital.
