Let’s Play

Just because we’ve wrapped up and packed away childish things, like our favorite toys, doesn’t mean an element of their meaning doesn’t linger with us. That connection to our adult psyche is just one avenue of contemplation taken in the Westport Arts Center’s exhibit Toy Stories, which included a lively reception to kick things off. Among the guests were artists who had contributed pieces, including Larry Silver, Nina Bentley, Miggs Burroughs, David Levinthal, Yuri Makoverychuk, Norma Minkowitz and Joan Wheeler.

The exhibit focused on our connections with toys and their enduring role in contemporary culture and was part of a series of events, including a toy-design competition and toy-themed WACky Family Days. The Westport Arts Center is a nonprofit dedicated to arts exploration for all ages
