The Westport Arts Center (WAC), no stranger to enriching the lives of the community with arts experiences, recently put out the call for art pieces that celebrated the look and taste of food. WAC Member Artists replied in full force—submitting works in a multitude of mediums. Jurors (and food gurus) Pat Callaghan of Pepperidge Farms, award-winning chef of Dressing Room Michel Nischan, Stew Leonard Jr. of Stew Leonard’s supermarkets, and Bill Taibe of Le Farm and sustainable seafood eatery The Whelk judged the entries. The result is FOODIES, an exhibition of work that celebrates the collision of food and art. The WAC kicked off the mouthwatering exhibit with a spirited reception. Guests eyed artworks while artists were on hand to explain their creative processes. Food purveyors Blue Lemon, Bistro 88, Villa del Sol, Terrain Garden Cafe, Pane e Bene, Arrezo Ristorante, and Matsu Sushi satisfied the appetites of attendees. Outside, the gourmet grilled cheese truck, Melt Mobile, supplied art lovers tasty, comforting sandwiches.
