Art Alchemy

Jan Testori-Markman

Weston resident Jan Testori-Markman showed off her latest artworks in an exhibition at the Citigroup Center in New York. Titled “New Work,” the collection is inspired by urban life and living in the city.

Testori-Markman used a unique treatment on her paintings. She first painted translucent layers on top of one another, peeled layers, and then added iron filings, which rusted on contact. An alchemy of art and science, the works are beautiful, with varying textures and colors, and just a little gritty—like city living itself.
